From left to right are Dr. John Vassar, provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at UMHB, Dr. Randy O'Rear, president of UMHB, Dr. Glenda O. Barron, president of Temple College; and Dr. Susan Guzman-Trevino interim vice president for academic affairs at Temple College.Temple College and the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor have signed an articulation agreement that will make it easier for students who complete an associate degree at Temple College to pursue a bachelor’s degree at UMHB.

The agreement, which is effective immediately, was developed after officials at both schools analyzed the content of the freshman- and sophomore-level courses offered at both schools. It details a pathway of courses at Temple College that will fulfill degree requirements when students transfer to UMHB to complete their studies.

“This helps our students make good choices and seamlessly transfer to UMHB,” Temple College President Dr. Glenda O. Barron said at the July 2 signing ceremony.

UMHB President Dr. Randy O’Rear noted that historically, the largest number of transfer students at UMHB have come from Temple College. Among these is Dr. Susan Guzman-Trevino, interim vice president of academic affairs at Temple College. Guzman-Trevino attended Temple College and then earned her bachelor’s degree at UMHB.

“We are thrilled to facilitate a seamless connection to programs offered at UMHB,” Guzman-Trevino said. “This agreement will ensure that our students can stay close to home and complete their degrees efficiently.”
