The Temple College Dental Hygiene Program will conduct free screenings for prospective patients beginning Monday, Aug. 29, in the Jean and Ralph Wilson Dental Hygiene Clinic, located in the Health Sciences Center on the Temple College East campus.

The dental hygiene program is in particular need of patients who have not received dental hygiene care for several years or whose gums bleed easily.

Screenings will take place on Mondays from August 29th through Nov. 28th. Screenings will be by appointment only from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Please call the dental hygiene clinic to schedule a screening appointment at 254-298-8688. The dental hygiene clinic is located on the East Campus of Temple College off of Marvin Felder Drive. Visitor parking is available in front of the Health Science Center building.

Screenings are performed by members of the dental hygiene program faculty and are necessary prior to becoming a patient in the program. Dental hygiene students provide the full range of preventive care services as part of their learning experiences within the program, however no reparative or restorative services are offered.

After patients have been screened, they will be called at a later date to set up hygiene appointments with a student. There is a $15 fee for hygiene services, which include cleaning and polishing, radiographs (X-rays), pit and fissure sealants when appropriate, fluoride applications, nutritional counseling and home care instruction. The fee is due at the first cleaning appointment.
