The Temple College Jazz Ensemble and Temple Jazz Orchestra will perform at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 1 at the College’s Mary Alice Marshall Performing Arts Center.
The performance is open to the public. General admission is $10. Students with their school IDs may attend for free.
Pieces for both the Temple College Jazz Ensemble and Temple Jazz Orchestra were chosen to represent the various types of composition and orchestration inherent in much of today’s large ensemble jazz. Both halves of the concert feature music particularly from the pen of Kenny Wheeler, whose trumpet playing and writing style were an influence to jazz musicians and composers for the last several decades.
The performance is under the direction of Dr. Colin Mason, director of the Temple College Jazz Ensemble and professor of music at Temple College, and Dr. Benjamin Irom, professor of music and director of jazz studies at Temple College.
