Temple College Vocal Point will present “The Lightning Thief, The Percy Jackson Musical” at 7:30 p.m. March 3 and March 4 at the College’s Mary Alice Marshall Performing Arts Center.

This dynamic, musical adaptation of Rick Riordan’s bestselling book opened on Broadway in 2019. When teenager Percy Jackson discovers he’s a demigod, he and his friends embark on an epic journey to find Zeus’ missing lightning bolt and prevent a war among the gods.

“I am thrilled to work on this high-energy, animated, storybook musical that features a dynamic cast,” said Priscilla Santana, chair of the music department. “We have exceptional students and faculty working hard on this show and we’re excited to share our production with the community.”

This is Temple College’s first musical theatre production featuring students in the new Associate of Arts in Musical Theatre program. In addition to musical theatre and theatre majors, the production will feature music majors in the cast. Students from Temple College’s engineering program helped create special effects and costume designs. The show will feature a live professional band made up Temple College professors.

Tickets are $10 for adults. Students can attend for free, with a student ID. Tickets can be reserved by calling (254) 298-8555 or emailing janet.bogucki@templejc.edu.
