Temple College has been awarded 30 scholarships for its 2023 Summer Camps. These scholarships were generously provided by ALTRUSA of Temple, Texas.
Scholarships will be awarded based on financial need and also on a first come, first served basis. The Scholarship application can be found here: https://forms.office.com/r/uHft5xqVNy.
Temple College offers three summer camps designed for middle school students to explore various career paths in STEAM related fields.
Future Programmers, Drones
June 26-30, 8 a.m. – noon, Taylor
July 17-21, 1 p.m. – 5 p.m., Rockdale
July 24- 28, 1 p.m. – 5 p.m., Temple
Students will code using Blocky and Arduino Uno to build a basic drone and apply code. Students will program motors, color, and range sensors. They will build a drone that will compete in an aerial event on the last day.
Future Engineers, Arduino Robots
June 26- 30, 1 p.m. – 5 p.m., Hutto
July 17-21, 8 a.m. – noon, Rockdale
July 24-28, 8 a.m. – noon, Temple
Students will use scratch Arduino-based programming using C++ to build basic circuits, including servos and motor controllers, LED lights, joysticks, and sensors. They will build an autonomous vehicle that they will program and race on the last day.
Future Lawyers, Three Little Pigs Mock Trial
June 26- 30, 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m., Temple
July 17-21, 8:30 a.m.- 3 p.m., Taylor
In this camp, students will have the opportunity to participate in a mock trial based on the Three Little Pigs story. For four days students will learn from a real criminal attorney about the criminal justice system and will gain valuable skills, including how to gather evidence, craft logical arguments and present their case.
