My decision to study pre-law at Temple College as an international student from Sudan reflects my firm drive to seize every opportunity that comes my way. Choosing community college was not an easy decision, but it was one based on practicality and a true belief in education’s profound power.

Community college, often underestimated by many, represents a path to success for individuals from diverse backgrounds. For me, it presented a unique opportunity to adapt to the American education system while navigating the complexities of life in a foreign land. Temple College, with its inclusive atmosphere and supportive community, offered a nurturing environment that would allow me to grow academically and personally.

One of the main reasons I chose community college was the flexibility it provided. Being an international student, I knew that adapting to a new country and a new educational system would require time and effort. Community college offered smaller class sizes, allowing for more personalized attention from professors and fostering a collaborative learning environment. The intimate classroom settings at Temple College would enable me to actively participate in discussions, express my thoughts and develop critical thinking skills, which are crucial in the field of law.

Furthermore, the affordability of community college was a major consideration in my decision-making process. Pursuing higher education abroad can be expensive, but Temple College’s affordable tuition and scholarship programs kept my aspirations within reach. By attending community college, I was able to create a solid academic foundation without jeopardizing my financial stability.

Beyond its practical advantages, Temple College resonated with me on a deeper level. The college’s mission “to foster student success for our diverse community by providing quality lifelong learning and enrichment experiences that empower students to achieve their dreams and aspirations,” struck a chord within me, as it mirrored the values I hold dear. In a world that is often marred by division, Temple College’s emphasis on fostering an environment where all individuals can thrive and be heard aligned perfectly with my own vision of a just society. It was comforting to know that I would be part of a community that not only celebrates diversity but also actively works to dismantle barriers and promote equity.

My choice to attend community college and Temple College was fueled by a combination of practicality, affordability and a desire for personal growth. By embracing the opportunities provided by a community college, I believe I will develop the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in the field of law and make a positive impact in my community. Temple College has helped me experience so many leadership and service opportunities that have built my resume before I even graduate. Temple College, with its inclusive environment and a strong sense of community, will serve as the fertile ground upon which my dreams will blossom, propelling me closer to my goal of advocating for justice and equality, and I hope it continues to do the same for others as well.
