The Temple College Visual Arts Department will host the 44th annual Central Texas Art Competition and Exhibition, featuring artwork crafted by talented college and high school students from across the Central Texas region. The exhibition will run Nov. 11-30.

The grand opening reception begins at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Temple College Visual Arts Complex gallery, located at 2101 S. 5th St. in Temple. During the opening night festivities, outstanding achievements in both high school and college categories will be recognized and awarded. Following the opening night celebration, the exhibition will be open to the public from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays until Nov. 30. Due to construction, parking will be in the North Parking Lot.

This year’s competition juror is Billy Perkins, a Temple College alumnus who has designed for some of the world’s most popular bands and music festivals since the early 1990s.

This inspiring competition and exhibition have been made possible through the generous sponsorship of Altrusa International of Temple and Temple South Rotary Club. Students hailing from six area colleges and universities, as well as 34 area high schools, were invited to participate, making this event a showcase of diverse artistic talents from the local academic community.
