Temple College is hosting more than 400 high school students from across the region on Saturday, Jan. 27. These students will be competing in a variety of SkillsUSA challenges.
SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry professionals working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. A nonprofit national education association, SkillsUSA serves middle school, high school and college/postsecondary students preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations.
“We’re excited to once again host this annual SkillsUSA competition and welcome hundreds of students to the Temple College campus,” said Stephen Phelps, dean of Business and Career Professions at Temple College. The competition allows for students to engage with community partners, career and technical faculty, who will evaluate the skills that students have gained through their ISDs.”

“This is a great opportunity for students to meet career practitioners from their fields of interest,” Phelps said. “They will also have the opportunity to receive critiques that will assist them as they advance to future SkillsUSA competitions.”
