“I am excited about this opportunity to represent my profession, as both a surgical technologist and an educator; the great state of Texas; and Temple College,” Buck said. “I am also excited to have the ability to advocate for patient care that supports communities.”

Surgical technologists assist the surgeon and the operating room team during invasive procedures. They are experts in sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, equipment, and they are knowledgeable in surgical anatomy, pathology and procedures.

Surgical Technology is a profession that continues to experience growth and demand nationwide, Buck said.

Temple College’s Surgical Technology program provides the technical and educational experiences that prepare graduates for entry-level positions as surgical technologists and to sit for the national certification examination sponsored by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA). Courses provide classroom, lab and clinical rotations to prepare graduates for entry-level positions as surgical technologists.
