Reck, who is the founder co-producing artistic director of the Glass Half Full Theatre in Austin, will present and discuss her work at 6:30 p.m. in the Jackson-Graeter Backstage Theatre of the Mary Alice Marshall Performing Arts Center. The event is free and open to the public.

Reck will also speak with students and faculty at 2 p.m. that day in the Jackson-Graeter Backstage Theatre.

“We are currently rehearsing a production called ‘The Tragical, Comical, Historical Adventures of Pinocchio,’ a performance for young audiences written by Christopher Krejci, one of Temple College’s English professors,” said Dr. Derek Mudd, Chair of Temple College’s Speech, Humanities, Drama and Dance Department. “Caroline’s presentation will fit perfectly with the show our students are working on.”

Reck has made a name for herself in the Austin theatre scene as a performer, puppeteer and performance creator, Mudd said.

“Her company has produced works that have won some of Austin’s highest honors in theatre, the B. Iden Payne and Austin Critics’ Table Awards,” Mudd said. “Glass Half Full’s productions feature puppets and humans to highlight themes of social and environmental justice.

Since 2012, Reck has created works that bring awareness to climate justice and migration issues.

“Her work focuses on strategies to highlight these topics using light-hearted, imaginative and interactive puppet-based performance,” Mudd said. “She speaks English, French and Spanish and uses multilingualism to enhance the visual narratives of her works.”
